A top-level domain (TLD), sometimes referred to as a top-level domain name (TLDN), is the last part of an Internet domain name; that is, the letters which follow the final dot of any domain name.
For example, in the domain name www.example.com, the top-level domain is com (or COM, as domain names are not case-sensitive).
The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) currently classifies top-level domains into three types:
country code top-level domains
(ccTLD): Used by a country or a dependent territory. It is two letters long, for example .us for the United States. With some historical exceptions, the code for any territory is the same as its two-letter ISO 3166 code.
generic top-level domains
(gTLD): Used (at least in theory) by a particular class of organizations (for example, .com for commercial organizations). It is three or more letters long. Most gTLDs are available for use worldwide, but for historical reasons .mil (military) and .gov (governmental) are restricted to use by the respective U.S. authorities. gTLDs are subclassified into sponsored top-level domains
(sTLD), e.g. .aero, .coop and .museum, and unsponsored top-level domains (uTLD), e.g. .biz, .info, and .name.
infrastructure top-level domains (iTLD): The top-level domain .arpa is the only confirmed one. .root has been known to exist without reason.

For example, as Alice met Bob, it is implied that Bob met Alice. Parsers may use the information in the profile to make explicit the implicit reverse relationships.

낙동강 홍수로 인한 제방 붕괴 등의 수해피해는 2001년부터 2005년까지 4만5,000여명의 이재민 발생, 91명 사망ㆍ실종, 재산피해 3조1,195억원 등에 이른다. 이 때문에 정부는 지난 2004년 낙동강 통수능력부족 해소를 위해 진동만 방수로 신설에 3조400억원, 국가하천 노후제방 보수 및 지방하천 정비에 3조4,814억원 등 16조를 들이는 낙동강유역 종합 치수계획을 세웠다.
내부적으로는 정부가 결정을 내릴 경우 ▦세미나 등을 통한 각계 의견수렴 ▦낙동강 연안 8개 시ㆍ군 주민 의견수렴 ▦경제ㆍ관광ㆍ홍수대책 등 도민홍보 ▦전문기관 용역의뢰 ▦액션플랜 수립 ▦배후도시ㆍ터미널 주변, 친수공간의 친환경 개발이라는 단계적인 계획까지 세워놓고 있다.

【용인】세계적인 비디오 아티스트 고(故) 백남준 선생의 작품을 전시하고 연구하는 ‘백남준아트센터’가 30일 준공식을 가졌다.
용인시 기흥구 상갈동에 건립된 백남준아트센터는 지난 2월 건립공사를 마쳤으나 시설 보완 등을 거쳐 이날 준공식을 갖게 됐다.
앞으로 작품 설치 등 개관 준비 과정을 거쳐 오는 10월 중 공식 오픈할 예정이다.
이날 행사에는 김문수 경기도지사와 아트센터 관계자 등 300여 명이 참석한 가운데 기념식과 건물 관람, 경기도립무용단과 국악단의 축하공연 등이 진행됐다.
백남준 선생이 ‘백남준이 오래 사는 집’이라고 직접 이름을 붙인 백남준아트센터는 지난 2001년 고인과 경기도 간 양해각서 체결을 통해 건립됐으며, ‘백남준’이라는 명칭을 가진 세계 최초의 미술관이다.
백남준아트센터는 2003년 국제 현상설계 공모를 통해 선정된 독일 건축가 키르스텐 쉐멜(Kirsten Shemel)씨의 ‘매트릭스(The Matrix)’라는 작품을 기반으로 설계됐다.
지하 2층·지상 3층, 연면적 5천605㎡ 규모로 상설 및 기획전시실, 자료실, 창작공간, 교육실, 수장고, 연구실, 편의시설 등을 갖추고 있다.
앞으로 전시될 주요 작품은 백남준 선생이 40여 년간의 작품활동을 통해 남긴 ‘삼원소’, ‘TV물고기’, ‘TV시계’, ‘로봇 456’ 등 작품 67점과 개인사물세트 3점, 비디오 아카이브(습작) 등 2천여 점에 달한다.

“전통적인 미술관이나 기념관의 개념이 아닙니다. 현대적의미로 보면 대중성의 측면에서 슈퍼마켓에 가깝다고나 할까요.”
백남준 아트센터를 설계한 캐나다 출신의 건축가 마리나 스탄코빅씨(Marina Stancovicㆍ48ㆍ사진)가 지난 30일 완공식을 맞아 이같이 설명했다. 용인시 기흥구 상갈동에 자리를 잡은 1,500평 규모의 백남준 미술센터는 지난 2006년 8월말 공사를 시작해 이번에 완공됐다. 정식 개관은 오는 10월.
스탄코빅씨는 “자연과 인공의 조화를 최우선으로 했기에 건물 전면과 뒤쪽 외벽을 유리로 만들어 건물의 안과 밖이 연결되도록 했다”며 자연스러운 드나듦과 소통의 중요성을 강조했다.
이어 그는 “‘대중 예술’을 추구해 온 백남준의 예술 세계를 감안했고 현실을 투영하는 작품세계까지 아우르는 것”이라며 “밤에 보면 작품과 건물 자체가 빛을 발하는 색다른 모습을 볼 수 있을 것”이라고 ‘슈퍼마켓’이란 표현에 대해 설명했다. 의도한 것은 아니지만 연못과 산 등 주변 자연을 고려해 건물을 앉히다 보니 위에서 내려다 본 모양은 백남준의 이니셜인 P자 형태를 띄고 있다.
한편 전시장은 미디어 작품의 특성에 맞게 기계 및 전기설비를 감안해 특별 고안됐다. 멀리서 보면 단색으로 보이는 건물 외관은 백남준의 초기작 같은 단순성을 반영했다. 설계자는 “건축이라기 보다 진취적인 성향을 가진 문화 공간으로 봐달라”고 당부했다.
지난 3월 취임한 이영철 백남준 아트센터 초대관장은 “단순한 미술관을 넘어 백남준의 예술세계와 활동적인 진보성을 이어 받아 문화 매개공간으로 다양하게 활용할 것”이라며 “아티스트가 비행기라면 큐레이터는 활주로인 만큼 세계적인 전문 큐레이터 양성을 위한 연구비 지원과 장학제도도 운영할 계획”이라고 밝혔다. 백남준 미술센터는 재정 및 예산 확보, 법적 규제와 부딪히는 등 우여곡절을 겪었다.

모니터부품 수리·분진 제거 국립현대미술관, 오늘부터
국립현대미술관의 상징인 백남준의 비디오 설치작품 <다다익선>(사진)이 1일부터 상영을 재개한다.
<다다익선>은 1988년 서울올림픽을 기념하기 위해 한국의 전통 탑형식으로 제작되어 국립현대미술관의 상징으로 자리매김하여 왔다.
높이 18.5m, 폭 11m, 무게 16톤의 거대한 원추 구조물 형태를 띄고 있는 <다다익선>은 개천절을 상징하는 수상기 1천3대를 6단 원형으로 쌓아올린 거대한 비디오 예술품으로 한국 근대사 및 한국 전통의 문화와 서울올림픽을 주제로 한 영상을 선보인다.
지난 2003년 동 작품의 모니터를 전면 교체하는 리모델링 작업을 했으나 1988년에 제작된 이후 약 20년간 사용한 내부 설비의 노후화 및 일부 모니터의 작동 불량으로 인하여 지난해 11월부터 상영을 중단하고 작품개선 작업에 들어가 이번에 성공적으로 개선작업을 마치고 다시 상영하게 되었다.
국립현대미술관은 "작품개선 사업으로 모니터 부품 수리 및 분진 제거, 영상케이블 등을 정비한 만큼, 중요 미술작품인 <다다익선>의 작품수명이 연장되고, 보다 나은 영상으로 관람객에게 한층 업그레이드 된 작품 감상기회와 관람환경을 제공할 수 있을 것"이라고 밝혔다. 02-2188-6232
